Das Bahnhofsgeb\u00e4ude in Dorsten wurde im Jahr 1879 von der Rheinischen Eisenbahngesellschaft erbaut und befindet sich als sogenannter Inselbahnhof genau zwischen den beiden Linien der Rheinischen Bahn und der Niederl\u00e4ndisch-Westf\u00e4lischen-Eisenbahn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nachdem die Deutsche Bahn die Nutzung des Bahnhofs aufgab, stand er jahrelang leer und verfiel allm\u00e4hlich. Schlie\u00dflich erwarb die Stadt Dorsten das denkmalgesch\u00fctzte Geb\u00e4ude und startete&nbsp; mit F\u00f6rdergeldern aus dem Programm \u201eWir machen MITte \u2013Dorsten 2020\u201c eine umfassende Sanierung. Das B\u00fcro f\u00fcr B\u00fcrgerengagement und Ehrenamt entwickelt das Konzept gemeinsam mit B\u00fcrgerinnen und B\u00fcrgern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Als B\u00fcrgerbahnhof vereint der Bahnhof drei Aspekte:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Als Ausgangspunkt einer Reise wird der Bahnhof in seinem urspr\u00fcnglichen Sinne genutzt. Hier warten Reisende auf den Zug und sind gesch\u00fctzt vor Unbilden der Witterung.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Als Ort der Ankunft wird der Bahnhof zur Visitenkarte des Ortes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Als bemerkenswertes Geb\u00e4ude der Eisenbahngeschichte l\u00e4dt der Bahnhof ein, sich mit Geschichte und Gegenwart zu besch\u00e4ftigen. Hier k\u00f6nnen Menschen zusammenkommen, gemeinsame Interessen pflegen, Meinungen austauschen und sich in b\u00fcrgerschaftlichen Projekten engagieren.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Seine Insellage verlor der Bahnhof im Dezember 2018 und kann nun auf direktem Wege von der Innenstadt Dorstens aus erreicht werden. Das Umfeld des Bahnhofs, an dem nun auch ein Fahrradweg voreif\u00fchrt, wurde park\u00e4hnlich gestaltet und l\u00e4dt zum Verweilen ein. Heute ist der Bahnhof ein Ort, an dem man sich gerne aufh\u00e4lt und der gleichzeitig durch die gemeinn\u00fctzige Besch\u00e4ftigungs- und Qualifizierungsgesellschaft \u201eDorstener Arbeit gGmbH\u201c f\u00fcr Besch\u00e4ftigung und Qualifizierung genutzt wird. Dazu geh\u00f6rt der Betrieb der Gastst\u00e4tte als Ausbildungsgastronomie, die f\u00fcr jedermann zur Verf\u00fcgung steht. Gruppenr\u00e4ume und Lagerm\u00f6glichkeiten im Geb\u00e4ude werden auch von OnWheels genutzt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die \u201eBahnhofsfamilie\u201c, in der sich auch OnWheels engagiert, begleitet die Entwicklung des Bahnhofs und initiiert besondere Veranstaltungen.
